A trailer for Doug Liman’s The Instigators has been released, starring Casey Affleck and Matt Damon.
The first trailer for The Instigators has been released following an announcement yesterday alongside a new poster. In the trailer, we receive looks at Casey Affleck’s Cobby and Matt Damon’s Rory, two criminals who convince a therapist (Hong Chau) to join their high-octane getaway chase. The synopsis reads:
“Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) are reluctant partners: a desperate father and an ex-con thrown together to rob a corrupt politician’s ill-gained earnings. But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police but also by backward bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. Completely out of their depth, they convince Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to join their riotous getaway through the city, where they must put aside their differences and work together to evade capture — or worse. “
We also get looks at Jack Harlow, a rapper best known for his song “What’s Poppin’”, Alfred Molina, best known for his role as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 as well as Michael Stuhlbarg (Doctor Strange, Call Me By Your Name).

The Instigators is directed by Doug Liman, and written by Chuck MacLean and Casey Affleck. It stars Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman. The film is produced by Apple Studios and will be released on Apple TV+ on August 9th.
