With Lanterns entering production, the series is rounding out its core cast with the casting of Ulrich Thomsen in a recurring role as the villainous Thaal Sinestro of the Yellow Lantern Corps. The series, currently starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as the Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart, is set to follow two Green Lantern officers as they unearth an ancient terrestrial based mystery enveloped in evil.

The cast had recently welcomed members Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dilahunt and Poorna Jagannathan in addition to the lead roles, rounding out a strong cast of prestige TV alumni ahead of the HBO series. Now Ulrich Thomsen has officially joined the cast of the show, as the comic book villain Thaal Sinestro, an opponent that often antagonizes Hal Jordan.

Lanterns is officially headed into production in the UK, with principal photography beginning last week for the series.

The series is expected to debut on HBO and Max starting mid-2026.
