‘The Fantastic Four’ Trailer: Marvel’s First Family Takes A Giant Leap

This Tuesday morning, after giving us a brief twenty second teaser yesterday, the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuted. This trailer has been a long time coming, as the film was first announced all the way back in July 2019. Years of fan-casting and rumors followed suit until February 2024, when it was revealed that Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach would star as the titular heroes. The official synopsis for the film reads as follows:

“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

What Happens In The Trailer For The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

The trailer opens with the Reed Richard (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) introducing a man to their home, the Baxter Building. HERBIE helps Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) cook dinner. We get shots of Reed solving equations on an elaborate chalk board as he describes how getting their powers affected each member of the family. Ben wanders the streets solemnly while Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) takes flight. We get a montage of the heroes fighting some unseen force while meteors rain from the sky. A brief shot John Malkovich’s is show, displaying his character sporting long hair and a beard. Galactus (Ralph Ineson) looms over the Statue of Liberty, and the trailer ends on a final shot of all our heroes suited up.

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25th, 2025 and stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Ralph Ineson as Galactus, Julia Garner as The Silver Surfer, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Sarah Niles, and Natasha Lyonne. The film is directed by Matt Shakman and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis serving as executive producers.
