‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2 Trailer: Adventures Across Time
The X-Men, though separated across time, must work together to stop Apocalypse in the official trailer for the second season.
Over the past few weeks, promotional art for the second season of X-Men ‘97 began popping up online leading many to believe that the season is almost ready for release. Those suspicions were true as Marvel has just dropped the official trailer for X-Men ‘97 Season 2 which you can view below:
The trailer, which lasts for 1 minute and 58 seconds, opens to a choir version of the iconic X-Men theme. We see some of the X-Men, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Beast, Bishop, and Magneto, sitting on a mountain that’s been seemingly shot at. Rogue says, “It’s hard to believe… what’s not waitin’ for me,” we cut to flashbacks of Season One where Rogue and Gambit are together. Rogue continues, “Someone I lost. Someone special.” The Marvel Animation is shown, footage from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Marvel Zombies and X-Men ‘97 Season One is shown in the background.
We see Magneto overlooking a city in the desert, an offscreen voice says, “The X-Men are scattered through time,” as we see Nightcrawler, Rogue, Beast, Professor X and Magneto walking in a pyramid. We see a brief shot of who appears to be Rama Tut overlooking a city, the offscreen voice continues, “In the past, from the start of Apocalypse’s reign…” We see a brief shot of En Sabah Nur who was teased in the season one finale. We see Charles Xavier standing in front of a Sphinx, the offscreen voice says, “to the future, at the height of his rule.” We see a flashforward to the future where the Sphinx now resembles Apocalypse.
Cyclops, Jean and their son arrive at the Sphinx. In the past we see a spaceship floating above the desert city, it shoots a laser destroying part of the city. Apocalypse says, “The X-Men… I must strike them at their most vulnerable” we see the team back inside the pyramid confronting someone, we then cut to a closeup of Apocalypse’s face followed by him looking at a holographic HUD. Apocalypse continues, “The 1990s,” there we see Polaris entering the X-Mansion, which is currently under repairs, Polaris looks at a photo of her and Iceman. Additional photos of her with Jean, Storm, and Charles’ original X-Men team are shown.
We see Wolverine and Morph in a jet. Morph says, “Geez, could have at least bought me a drink first.” We see a team up between Jean and Cyclops. Jean uses her psychic abilities to mimic Wolverine’s claws, she places them in front of Cyclops’ visor allowing his laser to split off into multiple directions. A release date of July 1st is shown for the series. We then see another team up where Sunspot throws Jubilee at someone offscreen, she then uses her abilities to punch them. “The X-Men Return” is shown on screen, a disguised Bishop attacks a group of archers, Nightcrawler lends a hand in fighting them. “In An All-New Season” appears, Forge and Bishop are seemingly standing in front of a portal. Bishop says, “We gotta get the X-Men back…”
“Only on Disney+” is plastered on the screen. Bishop finishes, “to the 90s.” We then see a hooded person and Storm watch as Cyclops’ and Jean’s son reaches his hand towards a strange device, activating it. Cable is shown watching a battle against sentinels followed by Storm creating a sort of fire tornado. An offscreen voice says, “You fight a battle that cannot be won…” We see a flashback to the attack on Genosha, Colossus is seen holding Magik who was killed in battle. We cut to sentinels descending on X-Corp followed by brief looks at Exodus and Danger. Cable polishes his weapon as Jean and Cyclops approach him, Rogue says, “This isn’t just about us.” We see Cyclops and Jean with their son followed by Rogue, Nightcrawler and a mysterious character approach a memorial for the attack on Genosha. Rogue continues, “It’s about everyone we lost.”
Jubilee is shown crying, Charles is then seen in a mindspace filled with pyramids. We cut to a mural depicting En Sabah Nur alongside the X-Men followed by another mural with Apocalypse sitting on a throne. In the next scene, a T-Rex tries to attack Storm. Nightcrawler opens, “From the beginning of time…” we see a glimpse of Morph turning into Deadpool and Psylocke and Rogue trying to enter a room. Nightcrawler continues, “to the reaches of tomorrow…” We’re given a montage of action shots featuring different characters as Nightcrawler finishes: “We stand together right here… right now. I believe in the X-Men.” We see a group shot of the team readying for battle in a forest followed by the X-Men ‘97 Season Two logo. The trailer ends with Wolverine in a similar pose to the Wolverine (1982) #1 comic panel where he says, “We’re back, baby.”

What Is X-Men 97 Season 2 About?

In the second season of X-Men ‘97 after their battle with Bastion, the team is scattered across time and must find their way back to their original timeline. This won’t be easy with the return of Apocalypse, who wants to seek revenge on the team. Read the official synopsis below:
“X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.”
Work began on the second season of X-Men 97 in July 2022 with Chase Conley and Emi-Emmett Yonemura returning to direct. Two years later, a new headwriter was found in the form of Matthew Chaunchey, who previously worked on seasons of What If…? Footage from the upcoming season was showcased at various events, including 2024’s Disney D23, 2025’s Disney Upfront and most recently 2025’s New York Comic Con, where Eric Lewald, Julia Lewald and Larry Houston were also announced as executive producers. Season Three was also announced to be in the works at the event, the season is set for a 2027 release.
Following an official article on the Marvel website, we also learnt that Season Two of X-Men 97 will have a total of nine episodes, one less than that of Season One.

X-Men ‘97 Season 2 is created by Matthew Chauncey and stars Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey and more. The season premieres on Disney+ on July 1st, 2026.
