New Steam Leak Reveals Unannounced ‘Twin Peaks’ Game

In a widespread oversight by Valve, the developers of Steam, hundreds of achievements for announced and unannounced games have surfaced online. This has lead audiences to discovering a previously unannounced Twin Peaks game.

There are two achievements listed, one a test achievement and the other for arriving at the Double R Diner, titled “Welcome to Twin Peaks”.

In David Lynch’s and Mark Frost’s legendary TV show, the Double R Diner is one of Dale Cooper’s hotspots whilst staying in Twin Peaks as he investigates the murder of Laura Palmer. It is unclear if this is the starting location of the game or if players will have to travel there first.

There is also the possibility that these are really just test achievements, where a game is not in development and an indie developer is just playing around with the Steam interface.

There has been one official Twin Peaks game in the past, developed by Collider Games in collaboration with Showtime, who aired Twin Peaks: The Return back in 2017.

Twin Peaks is one of the most influential TV shows of all time, releasing in the late 80s and revolutionizing surrealism on television. The series starred Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper as he investigated the murder of a teenage girl on behalf of the FBI, taking him into the otherworldly and the dangerously grounded alike. It spawned three seasons of TV and a couple of movies, and remains talked about to this day, especially following David Lynch’s death.
