‘Practical Magic 2’ Falls Flat With Critics; First Reviews Are Negative

The sequel to Griffin Dunne’s cult classic witch film is finally here and much like the original, Practical Magic 2 is a miss with the critics.

Following a family of witches, the new film sees a younger generation unearth the families secrets and travel to the United Kingdom confronting their magic and to savae the next generation. Read the synopsis for the film below:

Twenty-five years after the events of the first film, the Owens family face a new crisis when a discovery regarding the family’s history and the origin of their magic comes to light. When Sally’s daughter begins to uncover hidden family secrets and develop her own dark abilities, the family is plunged into a multi-generational struggle to finally break the curse that has haunted their lineage for centuries.

Reviews for Practical Magic 2 have been out for a few days now and now the Rotten Tomatoes score is finally here, compiling the average thought of what reviewers and influencers think about the Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock reunion movie. Rotten Tomatoes currently lists the film (at the time of publication) at 35% from 31 critics, indicating that the film is largely panned.

On Metacritic, the film has a score of 46, indicating Mixed or Average reviews based on 19 critic reviews.

Despite this, the film is tracking well and is predicted to be a box office success, given general audiences stick around following the first weekend.
