‘Smile 2’ Final Runtime Revealed (Exclusive)

We can exclusively reveal the final runtime for Smile 2, directed by Parker Finn.

When Parker Finn’s twisted psychological slasher Smile was released in 2022 to rave reviews and a sizeable box office gross, a sequel announcement was inevitable. At CinemaCon 2023, Paramount announced that a sequel to Smile was in pre-production at the studio, with Finn returning to write and direct.

Filming began in January 2024 and lasted until March of the same year, before beginning its marketing circuit soon after. You can watch the trailer for Smile 2 below.

How Long Is Smile 2?

We at Feature First can exclusively reveal that Smile 2 is two hours and twelve minutes long, or a total of 132 minutes.

This is quite a bit longer than the first film, which only stood at one hour and 55 minutes long, or a total of 115 minutes. That is a difference of 17 minutes between the two films, indicating that the plot of this new film will be quite a bit chunkier.

What Is The Film About?

The first Smile film followed a therapist (Sosie Bacon) who witnessed one of her patients commit a strange suicide. She comes to realise that if you witness one of these events, you will be cursed until you kill someone or yourself, passing the curse along. Soon, she is plagued by hallucinations courtesy of a demon, before she kills herself to end the curse. But in one final twist, she passes the curse to her ex-boyfriend, the police detective Joel (Kyle Gallner).

The new movie will follow Skye Riley (Naomi Scott), a pop artist who becomes inflicted with the curse right as she goes on tour. Kyle Gallner reprises his role in the film, indicating that he may pass the curse along to Skye.
