‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Trailer: First Looks At Joseph Zada, Ralph Fiennes & More
The latest Hunger Games film, a prequel based on the novel of the same name by author Suzanne Collins, has finally released its first trailer.
Despite still currently being in production, director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson have released the trailer for their upcoming sixth Hunger Games film, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film serves as a sequel to the 2023 smash hit The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which starred Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, and Viola Davis, and a prequel to the Hunger Games quadrilogy (2012-2015) which starred Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks.
The new film follows Haymitch’s (Joseph Zada, playing the role originated by Harrelson) Hunger Games, the 50th anniversary of the games, as he grapples with contending in the games, with Coriolanus Snow (Ralph Fiennes playing an aged version of Tom Blyth’s character, in the role originated by Donald Sutherland) already risen to President.

The trailer showcases the games, appearing in a valley filled with meadows, almost Midsommar like in nature. The trailer sees the beginning of the 50th Hunger Games, as well as what seems to be the end. It is clear that the film hasn’t finished shooting as there are only a few locations and set pieces in the trailers. We do however get our first looks at Joseph Zada’s Haymitch, Whitney Peak’s Lenore Dove, Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus Snow, Jesse Plemons’ Plutarch Heavensbee (role originated by Philip Seymour Hoffman), and Elle Fanning’s Effie Trinket (originated by Elizabeth Banks).
The trailer closes with a shot of Haymitch watching a volcano erupt, marking a deadly obstacle in the 50th Hunger Games. A voiceover from Haymitch (seemingly voiced by Woody Harrelson) closes out the teaser.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Mckenna Grace, and many more.
The film is due out in theatres on November 20th, 2026. Watch the previous film, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, below:
