DCU ‘Wonder Woman’ Film Fast Tracked; Looking At TV Actresses For Role

The reign of DC Studios is finally here it seems, following a two and a half year construction phase, the company is now working like a well oiled machine, now developing many potential films. One of these, a currently untitled Wonder Woman film, is currently being written, as confirmed by James Gunn through Entertainment Weekly on June 10th.

This film has been the subject of much discussion since the release of Superman, with fans wondering what will be the next DCU film following Supergirl and Clayface in 2026. We may have found an answer to this, with development on the untitled Wonder Woman film reportedly being fast tracked, per a new report by Variety.

DC Studios doesn’t greenlight projects until the script is completed to the extent of good quality, meaning that pre-production cannot fully start until the script is handed in. The Wonder Woman film was not officially announced in the original January 2023 slate, where ten projects were unveiled for the public. We have since been made aware of several more of these, including Clayface, which has slotted itself ahead of many in the slate.

In other Wonder Woman news, Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, whilst speaking on The Box Office Podcast, revealed that DC Studios is currently eyeing TV actresses for the role of Wonder Woman. This has led many to narrow down their fancasts for the character, with some split over names like Adria Arjona, who is well known in both the film and television spheres. This wouldn’t be the first time a television actress has been cast in the DC Universe, with Rachel Brosnahan landing the role as Lois Lane and Milly Alcock landing the role of Supergirl. James Gunn however has recently disputed this claim on Threads.

Whatever it may be, Wonder Woman is on her way, with the film currently being written by an unknown writer.
