Following an extensive and disrupted filming period, The Sandman’s second season has finally finished filming.
After taking several months for an official renewal back in 2022 and an extremely tumultuous filming period due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, causing a five-month break in filming, the movie has finally wrapped its principal production.
Stars Donna Preston and Mason Alexander Park recently took to Instagram to announce that they have wrapped filming for the series.
Alexander Park plays the anthropomorphic embodiment of Desire, who plays a big part in both the series and the comic it’s based upon. They posted to their Instagram announcing their retirement from set with the caption, “That’s a wrap on this little minx 🐈⬛.” Their image is of themselves standing in front of their trailer, with the card ‘Desire’ labelled.
Preston, on the other hand, plays Despair, the twin of Desire, and naturally the embodiment of the lack of hope. She stated on her Instagram page, “That’s a wrap for me on The Sandman series 2, and what a great way to celebrate it by having our very own billboard at @netflixuk studios! Eaakkkkkkk #despair #thesandman”. Her image shows the actress standing in front of the Netflix Sheperton lot with a billboard for The Sandman in the background.
The Sandman will now enter its post-production process. The show’s first season starred Tom Sturridge, Kirby, Patton Oswalt, Boyd Holbrook, David Thewlis, Mason Alexander Park, and Donna Preston. Joining the season one cast are Barry Sloane, Esmé Creed-Miles, Steve Coogan, Ruairi O’Connor, Jack Gleeson, Clive Russell, Freddie Fox, Laurence O’Fuarain, Indya Moore, Ann Skelly, and Douglas Booth. The series is in development at Netflix.
