‘Superman’ Adds Alan Tudyk In Undisclosed Role

Despite being off production for almost two full months, James Gunn’s Superman has added yet another cast member, Alan Tudyk, to what has become a ginormous credit list.

While Alan Tudyk has already been cast in DC Studios’ Creature Commandos as the villainous Doctor Phosphorus, he’s reportedly already secured a second gig in the DC Universe, this time in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman adaptation.

While it’s unknown whether he will be reprising this specific role in that film, or if he will be voicing another character, further utilising his experience in the voice acting field to possibly voice a character such as Brainiac or perhaps the person under that black suit seen in set photos.

That being said, DC writer Tom King, who is currently working on HBO’s Lanterns, was quoted over a year ago in an interview with ComicPop (via The Direct) saying Doctor Phosphorus will appear in a DC movie in addition to Creature Commandos. At the time, only Superman had been written, heavily indicating that Superman may indeed be the film in which Alan Tudyk has been cast in.

“[Creature Commandos is] the first kickoff. That’ll be the launch of the new universe, will be Creature Commandos. And what I like about that… Doctor Phosphorus is on that team, which is created by Walt Simonson. who’s, maybe, my favourite person ever… And he loves Doctor Phosphorus. He created him back in 1977, or whatever. And so I couldn’t wait to tell Walt like, ’Doctor Phosphorus is going to be in a movie.'”
