Having finally reached the fourth episode of the hit HBO series The Penguin, Max has given audiences a look into the upcoming final four episodes of the limited series. The teaser, released on October 18th, 2024 at New York Comic Con, reveals a change in tone for the second half of the season. Heavily featuring what seems to be an all-out gang war, the trailer is fast-paced and high-octane, complete with explosions, shootouts and other gang activities. The last episode saw our first major glimpse at the past of The Batman Epic Crime Saga universe, centring on Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone and her false imprisonment in Arkham State Hospital at the hands of her father Carmine (Mark Strong). The episode ended back in the present day, with Sofia gassing the entirety of the Falcone crime syndicate, and taking Johnny Vitti (Michael Kelly) captive.
This has left many audiences clueless as to where the next episodes will go, and how Oz Cobb will overpower Sofia Falcone to become the kingpin of Gotham City. Fans have also been theorising how the story of Vic Aguilar’s story continues (or ends), as well as Dr. Julian Rush’s (Theo Rossi) possible ties to the comic-book villain Scarecrow.
The series logline reads as follows:
“Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the DC Studios series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster “The Batman.” Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series centres on the character played by Farrell in the film.”
The Penguin Episode 5 will debut seven days after the release of the fourth episode, on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at 9 PM Eastern Time (ET). It will be titled “Homecoming”, and will be written by Breannah Gibson and Shaye Ogbonna, and will have a runtime of 54 minutes. DC Studios‘ The Penguin is now streaming its first four episodes on HBO and Max.
