‘The Batman Part II’ Casts Scarlett Johansson In Key Role

Casting is officially underway for The Batman Part II, and the film may have already found its villain.

Pre-Production on The Batman Part II is finally nearing its end as the film enters the casting process ahead of production start early next year. With the villain still unknown for the project, audiences are very keen to see new information regarding the 5-years-in-the-making sequel. Now though, we have our first new cast member of the film and it’s an A-lister.

According to several reports, Scarlett Johansson, best known as Black Widow Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be joining The Batman Epic Crime Saga as a key cast member of The Batman Part II. According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, ScarJo even went as far as telling her team to pursue the role at all costs, asking them to fit it in with her schedule to film Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Exorcist film, in which she is attached to star.

Scarlett will have a tight schedule next year, as she is also attached to star in the sequel to Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic World: Rebirth, as well as possibly returning for Avengers: Secret Wars.

It is unknown as to what character she will be playing, but Sneider also revealed Emma Stone was also in talks for the same role. It is possible it is the villain of the film, with many assuming it is Phantasm, a character who originated in the animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

She isn’t the first A-lister to star in this universe with Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Paul Dano (The Riddler), Barry Keoghan (The Joker), Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), Clancy Brown (Salvatore Maroni) and Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman) previously being cast. Of these, only Pattinson, Farrell, Wright, and Serkis are confirmed to return.

The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis. The film will be shot by Erik Messerschmidt and is set to be released in October 2027 by DC Studios.
