What Is ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ About?
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is the fourth entry in the live-action sonic universe. Sonic The Hedgehog saw the arrival of Sonic on Earth, the film sees Ivo Robotnik try to capture the hedgehog to fulfill his wish of ruling the world. Robotnik is defeated and sent to a mushroom planet. Sonic stays on earth as the son of Tom and Maddie Wachowski.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 introduced Knuckles The Echidna, a warrior tasked with guarding the Master Emerald. When Knuckles teams up with Robotnik, the two work together to find Sonic and reach the location of the Master Emerald. Sonic is not alone in this adventure as he’s joined by a young inventor, Tails, who first appeared in the post credit scene of the first film.
Tails acts as Sonic’s sidekick throughout the film. The film ends with the Knuckles siding with Sonic and Tails to defeat Robotnik who stole the Master Emerald and hopes to rule the world with it. Robotnik is defeated, Knuckles and Tails stay on Earth and join the Wachowski family.
Knuckles is a Wade Whipple focused story that sees Wade train to become a bowling warrior and participate in the Reno bowling tournament. Along the way, two agents from GUN have gone rogue and intend to capture Knuckles for the Mechanic who hopes to use his power to create weapons. Upon reaching Reno, Wade meets his father who eventually betrays him and his family. The Mechanic also arrives to capture Knuckles but is eventually defeated when Knuckles uses his signature move, The Flames of Disaster.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will serve as an origin story for Shadow The Hedgehog, a character who we were introduced to in the post credits scene of Sonic The Hedgehog 2. When Shadow is determined to destroy humanity, Sonic and his friends are forced to team up with Robotnik to stop him. Shadow’s creator, Gerald Robotnik also appears in the film however his intentions are unknown.

We can exclusively confirm that Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is 1 Hour and 49 Minutes long with credits. This makes the film longer than Sonic The Hedgehog (1 Hour and 39 Minutes) and shorter than its predecessor Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (2 Hours and 2 Minutes).
This gives enough room for the film to dive deep into Shadow’s origin as well as bring us back to the present day where Team Sonic must defeat this new threat.
