Pixar’s next film, the space set coming-of-age story Elio, has released a new teaser trailer ahead of its June 2025 release.
Elio’s marketing seems to have been restarted, with a new teaser being uploaded for the film, but being titled the same as the initial teaser trailer that was released over 17 months ago. You can watch the new trailer below:
The trailer sees the young boy Elio, as he tries to get himself abducted by aliens. When the aliens surprisingly take him in, they mistake him as the leader of Earth and soon he must form alliances to save the universe. Read the synopsis below:
A space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession, Elio’s all in for an epic undertaking when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. When Elio is mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
A new poster was also released for the upcoming film:
Elio was originally meant to be released in March of 2024 but was delayed as a result of a change of leadership both on the film and at Pixar as a whole, as well as the SAG-AFTRA strikes back in 2023.
Elio is directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi (Turning Red) and Adrian Molina (Coco). The animated film stars Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO. Elio is due out in theatres on June 13, 2025.
