‘Dune: Prophecy’ Greenlit For Season 2 At HBO

HBO’s biggest series at the moment, Dune: Prophecy, is set to return for a second season following what is a pretty intriguing first instalment. Read more about Dune: Prophecy season 2 below.

While the first season is yet to conclude, Dune: Prophecy season 1 provides some interesting but not necessarily important context to the Dune films, which were directed by Denis Villeneuve. 

Dune: Prophecy follows the creation of the Bene Gesserit at the hands of two Harkonnen sisters, who are members of the sisterhood of truthsayers. The show follows their attempt to gain power over the Emperor, but when a new threat arises, the entire sisterhood and decades of planning might just go down the drain. 

The synopsis reads as follows: 

From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. Dune: Prophecy is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. 

Alison Schapker, series showrunner, and Sarah Aubrey, head of Max original programming, commented on the news stating respectively:

Legendary’s head of television, Jason Clodfelter, also commented on the series renewal:

Dune: Prophecy season 1 stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jodhi May, and many more. The finale for the series airs this Sunday on Max and HBO.
