Daredevil: Born Again is set to release on March 4th, 2025 on Disney+. Here are all the writers credited for the first season.
Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil series has had a tumultuous development, to say the least. The show was initially created by Christopher Ord & Matthew Corman (Covert Affairs). Initially set for 18 episodes, they were only able to shoot a handful of episodes before being shut down due to the writers and actors strike last year.
Marvel executives reviewed the footage and reportedly realized that the show wasn’t going in the direction they wanted it to. They let go of Christopher Ord & Matthew Corman and sought out different creatives. They wanted to change the way they were making TV entirely, and Daredevil: Born Again was the first to see those effects.
They eventually hired the directors of Loki Season 2 Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to help shape up the new version of the show. Dario Scardapane was hired as showrunner of the new iteration of the show—the first official showrunner of any of Marvel’s Disney+ shows.
Season 1 of the show was cut down to 9 episodes from 18, and some parts of the older iteration they filmed remained but the show received a new pilot, and episodes 8 and 9 would be completely new. It seems like there are parts of the other episodes that they may have shot new material for as well, but the writing credits still remain with the old writers.

Creators of the show, Christopher Ord & Matthew Corman, did not receive credit for any of these episodes, however, it’s possible that episode 2 is the one they wrote.
Jill Blankenship, Grainne Godfree, Thomas Wong, and David Feige were all writers of the past iteration of the show. They have credit on the episodes, so most of the footage was likely kept of those episodes.
Dario Scardapane, Jesse Wigutow, and Heather Bellson are all writers of the new iteration. This likely means episode 4 contains new material along with old material as both writers have credit. Episodes 1, 8, and 9 are completely new credited writers.
It will be interesting to see if both these iterations can be melded together into something good. Netflix’s Daredevil is regarded as one of the greatest superhero shows ever created, so this one will have a tough ship to follow as comparisons are only natural.
Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Nikki M. James, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, and Wilson Bethel. It starts airing on Disney+ on March 4th.
