‘Krypto’ Animated Series Announced At Annecy Festival
A new series about Krypto The Super Dog has just been greenlit at DC Studios. Here’s what we know.
The “World’s Finest Animation: DC Studios & Warner Bros. Animation” panel at Annecy Animation Festival has just concluded, giving us updates on upcoming animated series including the announcement of three new ones currently in production, of these announcements is an all new series centred around the super dog simply titled Krypto.
C.H. Greenblatt, known for his work on 2007’s Chowder and 2021’s Jellystone! Will head the series implying we can expect a more episodic experience for this Krypto series compared to the shorts format of Krypto Saves The Day!
This announcement is made as we’re about to see the return of the DCU’s take on the beloved super dog in Supergirl where he plays a key role in the film which hits theatres worldwide tomorrow, June 26th (Krypto is also likely to show up in July 2027’s Man Of Tomorrow). A second season of Krypto Saves The Day! Shorts is also currently in the works. However it’s important to note that neither Krypto Saves The Day! nor Krypto are canon to the overall DCU.
We also received our first logline for the series which implies that Krypto won’t be partnered up with Superman or Supergirl. Instead, by being his loveable self, he may change the lives of some wannabe criminals. You can view the logline below:
“When he’s not hanging out with Superman or Supergirl, Krypto tags along with a gang of misfit criminal wannabes who live down the block, and they soon discover he’s a ball of destructive, lovable energy worse than any of them! As he follows them into misadventures and poorly laid plans, Krypto’s pure nature slowly ends up redeeming them, whether they want it or not.”
While no release window is set for Krypto, DC Studios still as a number of animated projects set for release over the next few years including Creature Commandos Season 2, My Adventures With Green Lantern, Starfire, Super Powers,, My Adventures With Superman Season 3 (which is currently ongoing), Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 (streaming on Prime Video on July 31st) and the Batman: Knightfall Trilogy which just had its first trailer.
Krypto is created by C.H. Greenblatt, the series is coming soon.
