Ridley Scott Confirms Third ‘Alien’ Prequel Film Is In Development

Sir Ridley Scott is already working on his next film following the release of The Dog Stars with the visionary director telling LA Times he is working on the next instalment in his Alien prequel trilogy after Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
He says the third film will see Michael Fassbender’s David, an android with a big vision, create himself a “brave new world” and that “AIs can go off, and if they do, it’s like a bomb.”
It’s one of many projects Scott has in development, including Treasure Island (starring Hugh Jackman), Gladiator III, and You Should Be Dancing (the Bee Gees biopic). With Treasure Island set to be his next film and Scott releasing a new film every one to two years, that would place a tentative release date for the next story in his David saga as releasing at the latest by 2030.
It is also the fifth confirmed Alien project in development, following Alien: Isolation 2, Alien: Earth Season 2, Alien: Romulus 2, and Brian Duffield’s unspecified Alien film.
Prometheus tells the story of explorers who find a new planet where they encounter pale humanoid creatures and the beginnings of the creatures later known as Xenomorphs. Michael Fassbender’s David served as a member of that crew before being the sole survivor of the massacre that occurs on the planet and later (in Covenant) saves a ship of colonizers, who he then subsequently helps to kill to conduct experiments on with Xenomorph facehuggers.
