‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 13 Review: The Perfect Vibe

Another week, another episode of The Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 13 which is out now.

Hour 13 of The Pitt picks back up at 7:00 PM for Season 2 Episode 13; here is our review for it.

Episode 12 ended with Dr. Mohan’s patient Orlando coming back to the Pitt in critical condition, which is where this episode picks up. While the initial part of Orlando’s storyline was one of the weaker parts of the season, his return here is far more interesting, particularly because of how tragic it is. At one point there’s even a conversation about how if Orlando makes it, Orlando would be covered for Medicare and Medicaid because of what happened, which is a gut punch and a half considering what he initially came in for.

This episode in general has perhaps the best vibe the show has ever had. With the night shift coming in, it feels like there’s a much more mellow pace while still dealing with what came before. Last time the night shift came during the chaos of PittFest, but now there’s still some level of chaos but it has mostly died down, and we get to meet more night shift doctors while dealing with the fallout of the day with our day shift doctors.

The more mellow pace allows them to add in some more comedy while still balancing some of the more serious storylines in what might be their best moment of a balancing act. It also adds for quite a few wholesome moments that you can’t help but smile at. This type of episode is where this show is at its best.

There’s a really poignant scene between Whitaker and Ogilvie, who is struggling with the tolls of the job after one of his patients dies. We’ve been seeing Ogilvie slowly lose it as the day goes on—it’s his first day, so it’s understandable that he feels he’s not a good fit for emergency medicine. This is him at his lowest, and the conversation really hits all the right points.

Towards the end there’s another major Dana and Robby convo that’s fantastic. Robby keeps finding reasons for why he can’t leave right away. Now it’s him doubting Al-Hashimi’s ability to run the ER because he sees a lapse in her focus for a couple of moments. Then he hits us with a nuclear bomb, which is where we end the episode on. It might be my favorite episode ending on the season.

I don’t mind if the last couple of episodes are exactly like this. This is a very good pocket to be in for this show and in general these last few episodes have been excellent. The season started off a bit more rocky than I’d have liked it to have, but this stretch has been really good and I hope the last two episodes can continue that.
