The Sony Spider-Man Universe in its previous form consisted of Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, Madame Web, Venom: The Last Dance, and Kraven the Hunter. The movies used star power as the key draw for the films, with Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Jared Leto, Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and Russell Crowe among the main cast.

Other films that were in development included an El Muerto film starring Bad Bunny, and a Hypno Hustler film featuring Donald Glover. Sony also develops the Tom Holland Spider-Man films, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and its sequels as well as upcoming TV spin-off Spider-Noir.

It will be interesting to see how fans react to the news given the poor reception to the Sony Spider-Man Universe, with the guarantee of new projects.
