Blumhouse Productions has released the first teaser for Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist: Martyrs, confirming rumoured character roles, a haunting faith-based mystery, and the promise of spooky vibes early next year. Watch it below:

The teaser gives audiences first looks at Scarlett Johansson as Detective Julie Miller, her son Max (Jacobi Jupe), the prison chaplain Father William (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Sasha Calle as Detective Gina Restrepo. The teaser also revealed that the first full trailer for the film will be released on Friday.
Best known for his horror films and series, Mike Flanagan has taken a recent foray into IP territory having directed Doctor Sleep, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Carrie, and written the upcoming Clayface film. For Blumhouse, it seems he was a clear choice when chosen to reboot David Gordon Green’s sequel trilogy to The Exorcist, the hit 1973 film from the late William Friedkin.
The Exorcist: Martyrs will serve as the seventh The Exorcist film following the original ’73 film, Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III, Exorcist: The Beginning, Dominion: Prequel To The Exorcist, and The Exorcist: Believer.

The Exorcist: Martyrs stars Scarlett Johansson, Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Sasha Calle, John Leguizamo, Hamish Linklater, Carl Lumbly, Carla Gugino, Samathan Sloyan, and Kate Siegel. The film debuts in theatres on March 12, 2027.
