New ‘Superman’ Preview To Screen In Front Of ‘A Minecraft Movie’
Fans will get a chance to catch a brand new preview at James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ this weekend.
It has been four months since DC fans have gotten a look at Superman, the first feature film in James Gunn’s DCU. The first trailer instantly became the talk of the town when it debuted online last December and became the biggest trailer launch in the history of Warner Bros. Between the long wait between new footage and a disappointing Puppy Bowl appearance earlier this year, there has been a hunger from fans ever since. And this weekend, that hunger will be satiated.
Before showings of A Minecraft Movie, a brand new five-minute preview for Superman will be shown to audiences. This information was officially revealed in a video featuring the Superman cast. You can view it below:
This new footage was also shown to attendees of CinemaCon tonight (turn back now if you want to go in blind).
The footage begins where the first teaser trailer does, with Superman hitting the snow injured. He calls on his very jumpy dog, Krypto, to bring him home to The Fortress of Solitude. There, the robot attendants of the fortress help Superman heal in the light of our yellow Sun, rejuvenating the hero. The footage ends with an extended version of the trailer we have already received.
This marketing strategy has been done a few times in the last couple years and is only becoming more commonplace. For instance, prior to the anniversary showings of The Phantom Menace last year, fans were offered their first look at Star Wars: The Acolyte. Much more relevant to WB however, was the exclusive new footage of Dune: Part Two shown to fans who attended the Part One IMAX rerelease last January as first reported by us here at Feature First.
James Gunn’s Superman stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and more. The film hits theaters on July 11th.
A Minecraft Movie is directed by Jared Hess and stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Hansen. The film hits theaters this Friday.
