Last week, Lucasfilm unveiled the first trailer for the next Star Wars Disney+ series, The Acolyte. As marketing ramps up, we now know when we can expect the next taste of this highly anticipated series.
What Is ‘The Acolyte’?
The series was created by Russian Doll showrunner Lesley Headland and stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….
Where Can This Footage For ‘THE ACOLYTE’ Be Seen?
As of recently, many studios have been doing re-releases of past films with exclusive footage. We previously had exclusively reported the contents of the Dune: Part Two footage shown during the recent Dune reissue for example. But more relevant to this article, Lucasfilm is no stranger to this practice themselves when a sneak peek at Andor was attached to the Rogue One re-release in 2022.
Last week, it was confirmed by Lucasfilm that at both the upcoming The Phantom Menace 25th anniversary showings and the over 20-hour long Skywalker Saga Marathon, viewers will be treated to a special look at The Acolyte. The former will occur on May 3rd in theaters worldwide while the latter will only be in 13 theaters across the United States on May 4th.
What Will Be Shown?
We at Feature First can exclusively confirm that the footage attached to the showings will amount to roughly 4 minutes in length and contain: an introduction to the audience reminding them to stay after the credits, an extended scene, and a sizzle reel for the show.
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace will return to theaters May 3rd, the film was directed by George Lucas and stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best, Ian McDiarmid, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Pernilla August, and Frank Oz.
Star Wars: The Acolyte will be streaming June 4th on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere.
