‘Spyro: A Realm Beyond’ Debuts Cinematic Trailer At Xbox Games Showcase

Just announced at the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, Spyro The Dragon returns in a brand new entry in the long running series. Spyro: A Realm Beyond was shown with a cinematic trailer which you can view below:

The trailer which lasts for 1 minute and 11 seconds opens in a grassland with the words, “In A Realm Beyond” on screen. As the camera moves downwards we see two bird-like creatures spending time with each other before a storm approaches, causing them to flee. They run towards a village as the sky turns grey and lightning strikes. We see the staff of a person that appears to be the game’s villain indicated by the text that shows up shortly after, “A New Evil Rises.” They let out a sinister laugh before the next scene.

Now in a desert, cheerful music plays as we’re following an offscreen character. The words, “A Legendary Hero” fades in and out as it is revealed to be Spyro The Dragon, sporting a redesigned look from the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, it appears as if he’s gotten older. The text continues with the word, “Soar” as Spyro reaches towards the sky in the distance is the sinister tower owned by the new villain. Spyro flies towards it as the screen fades to black revealing the game’s logo.

The trailer ends with a quick snippet of gameplay where we see Spyro flying above a lake, the player is able to shoot fireballs while aiming with a reticle as Spyro lights a campfire and takes out an enemy in what appears to be old ruins. We once again arrive at the game’s logo, the release window of Spring 2027 is given alongside confirmation that the game will launch on all major platforms.

What Is Spyro: A Realm Beyond About?

Spyro: A Realm Beyond is the next entry in the long running series as we see Spyro return to face off against a new threat. Read the official synopsis below:

“When Spyro finds himself stranded, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever. Feel the freedom of flight as you soar above vibrant landscapes, weave between treetops, dive off massive landmarks and wing your way through this new realm in Spyro’s boldest evolution yet. Carve your path through the skies and chain together dives, climbs and tight turns as you navigate the world your way. Crafted by Toys For Bob, this is a new evolution of Spyro, built to send the purple dragon soaring higher than ever before.”

Spyro: A Realm Beyond is developed by Toys For Bob. The game launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (via Steam) in Spring 2027.
