A veteran Marvel Studios concept artist has published never-before-seen looks at the upcoming The Fantastic Four: The First Steps film.

New Concept Art Shows Ideas For ‘Fantastic Four: The First Steps’ & Potential Plot Details

Many new looks at upcoming Marvel Studios films have been revealed today when the ArtStation website of veteran concept artist Mushk Rizvi was discovered by fans. Rivzi has worked with the company for some years now, previously doing art for Echo, Captain America: Brave New World, Loki, Ms Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Secret Invasion, and is seemingly now attached to the developmental stages of films like Fantastic Four: The First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday. It is important to note that the unpublished section this art is taken from, is not able to be found from the homepage of Rizvi’s site.

This article contains potential spoilers for The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, proceed with caution.

The First Family in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Concept Art

Concept art for the film shows looks at our Fantastic Four, consisting of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn). The found concept art shows looks at both our current and official cast, as well as previously considered members.

The first piece sees the First Family having dinner, whilst others show the Family at home in their Baxter Building with robot Herbie. Johnny can be seen using a prototype phone, despite the film being set in an alternate futuristic 1960s. Another image shows Sue projecting a force field around the team, while the team is huddled on a water like surface fighting an unseen enemy. More images, and some animatics, see Sue Storm projecting shields while being shot at by a group of henchmen. She can also be seen blasting projectiles.

Another piece of art shows a truck-crane hybrid branding the name “The Reed Richards Company” on the side. It is either loading or unloading some boxes branded “Menner G”.

Franklin Richards In ‘The Fantastic Four: The First Steps’

In several pieces of this art, Franklin Richards, the son of Sue and Reed, can be seen as an infant. This is note-worthy, due to theories of Sue’s pregnancy running rampant since the teaser trailer for Fantastic Four: The First Steps was released. One animatic shows Franklin in a Spider-Man costume (for babies) about to fall off a couch but Sue whisks him away in a protective bubble. This seemingly confirms the potential existence of Spider-Man in the alternative universe F4 takes place in.

Other images show Franklin in a pod, similar to that of Grogu’s in The Mandalorian, another project that stars Pedro Pascal. Toys can be seen littered around in this image. In another, Franklin is being read to by Reed, whilst surrounded by Ben, Sue and Johnny. Finally, a set of three concept art images showcases Sue with different hairstyles and suit styles, brandishing a newborn Franklin.

First Looks At Shalla-Bal Silver Surfer In ‘The Fantastic Four: The First Steps’

Our final big reveal, in regards to The Fantastic Four: The First Steps concept art, is our first look at Shalla-Bal Silver Surfer, as portrayed by Julia Garner. She will serve as a secondary antagonist in the film and a herald of Ralph Ineson’s Galactus.

The piece of art showcases three different zoomed-in perspectives of Reed Richards standing at a crater of destruction, seemingly caused by Shalla-Bal, as she hovers over the dismay. She is standing on her Silver Surfboard, and is emerging from some fog, which may have been created from a burst pipe or just the unsettled dust. She is holding his first out and upright, ready to punch Reed if necessary.

These new pieces of concept art aren’t revolutionary in discovering the plot of the movie, but do flesh out some of the ideas presented in both the trailer and theories online.

The Fantastic Four: The First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman for Marvel Studios and stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon-Moss Bachrach, Julia Garner, and Ralph Ineson. The film is due to release in theatres July 25, 2025.
