‘Marshals’ Returns For Season 2 This Fall, Sets Release Date

Marshals will return to CBS this fall with its second season. Read more about the Marshals Season 2 release date.

Yellowstone spin-off Marshals continues to thrive just a few months after its flagship season finished airing on CBS, announcing the release date for its second season with a first look. Fans have been treated to quite a lot of Yellowstone and Taylor Sheridan content this year, so fans absolutely are not feeling underfed. But, here’s the kicker… Marshals will be returning for its second season this year on October 4th, just seven months after the first season released on CBS.

This is a tight turn around, with Marshals Season 2 still in production following a renewal earlier this year. Producer studios’ CBS and Paramount+ clearly have high hopes for Marshals as an ongoing series, and pushing it for release in the 2026-2027 season will further push this season into success.

The news was broken during the premiere of Big Brother Season 28, where a promo was showcased for the upcoming season featuring new looks at Season 2.

Marshals follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), an ex-US Navy SEAL and now rancher, as he becomes a US Marshal, whilst dealing with the grief left by the demise of his wife Monica. Each episode sees Dutton grapple with his past as the son of legendary rancher John Dutton (Kevin Costner), his present as a marshal and father (to Brecken Merrill’s Tate Dutton), and his future and legacy in the Montana wilderness.

Paramount+ just finished airing Dutton Ranch, another Yellowstone spin-off that became one of the biggest shows ever on the streaming service. That show follows Kayce’s sister Beth (Kelly Reilly) and brother in law Rip (Cole Hauser) as they move to Texas trying to start their own ranch in the wake of the majority of the Yellowstone being sold to the Broken Rock Reservation.

Marshals Season 1’s finale teased a secretive enemy to the Marshals and the future of the Yellowstone ranch, as mysterious rancher Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey) orchestrates a plot to obtain the ranch and kill the Marshals. This will likely be the main plot of the second season, as the first season more took a stance against the Clegg faction (led by Michael Cudlitz’s Randall).

Marshals is created by Spencer Hudnut and stars Luke Grimes, Brecken Merrill, Gil Birmingham, Logan Marshall-Green, Mo Brings Plenty, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means. The series’ second season premieres on CBS and Paramount+ on October 4, 2026.
