‘Daredevil: Born Again’: Matthew Lillard To Play Kingpin Rival Mr. Charles

Marvel Studios is set to showcase some of their upcoming Disney+ projects during the “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation” panel at this year’s New York Comic Con. A day before the big event, Brad Winderbaum was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly, there he spoke about the four projects that will be covered at panel which includes Marvel Televisions Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 as well as Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 Season 2 and Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Season 2.

The interview began with a first look at the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. We see Matt Murdock as Daredevil sporting a new black suit, which features his iconic “DD” logo on the chestplate. You can view this image below:

Brad then went on to talk about the future of Daredevil: Born Again which was also renewed for a third season set for a March 2027 premiere. In this interview he highlighted various plot points about the second season, such as Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones joining Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in his resistance against the newly formed Anti-Vigilante Task Force which at the end of the first season managed to capture numerous New York based vigilantes under the order of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) they even managed to capture Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) for a short period before he was able to escape as seen in the season finale’s post credit scene. Additionally Brad mentioned that Elden Henson will return as Foggy Nelson in the second season but he didn’t explain in what capacity, during the first episode of season one Foggy met an untimely death at the hands of Benjamin Poindexter aka Bullseye (Wilson Bethel).

Moving on to Matthew Lillard, Brad explained that he will be an original character named Mister Charles who is described as a power player and in many ways is as influential as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Fisk will have to balance taking on Mister Charles and Daredevil, who both put pressure on his plans.

Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher. The second season premieres on Disney+ in March 2026.
