Daniel Radcliffe Reportedly Eyed For Basil Karlo In James Watkins’ ‘Clayface’
The Boy Who Lived could become the Boy Who Blobbed with Daniel Radcliffe being eyed for the leading role in ‘Clayface’.
With the attachment of a director, James Watkins, DC is already reportedly eyeing several actors to join the DC Universe for Clayface.
Following a big press event this past week concerning DC Studios’ slate of projects both within and outside of the DC Universe: Chapter One – Gods & Monsters, we have yet another update regarding Clayface. Based on a script by Mike Flanagan and set to be directed by Speak No Evil’s James Watkins, the film is reportedly already moving ahead with the casting progress supposedly underway, per reliable insider Jeffrey Sneider.
Daniel Radcliffe Being Eyed For DCU Basil Karlo in ‘Clayface’

Sneider reports that the DC Studios casting team is eyeing several actors for the lead role of Basil Karlo, the man who becomes the monstrous Clayface. Sneider suggests that, taken with a grain of salt, Daniel Radcliffe is being considered for the role of Karlo, amongst other actors. If true, it would mark a possible reunion between Radcliffe and Watkins, as the two have collaborated in the past with James Watkins’ box office breakout The Woman in Black. The other name Sneider has heard, is yet to be revealed due to Sneider’s own perception of its unlikelihood.
On the contrary, Nexus Point News writer Apocalyptic Horseman revealed in a quote-retweet on X (fka Twitter) that the casting process has yet to begin, despite trade outlets such as Deadline hinting otherwise.
Clayface will follow Basil Karlo, a young aspiring actor who is injected with a serum turning his body to clay. Audiences have noticed its similarities to last year’s The Substance, which also follows a Hollywood celebrity (Demi Moore) desperate to stay young, injecting herself with a serum to remember a better her (Margaret Qualley).

Radcliffe is best known for his role as Harry Potter in the Warner Bros. film adaptations of JK Rowling’s best selling book series. He has since gone on to appear in roles in Horns, Swiss Army Man, Guns Akimbo, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. James Watkins most recently directed Speak No Evil, a James McAvoy-Scoot McNairy starrer revolving around a serial killer family who befriends an unsuspecting vacationing family.
