The second John Wick spin-off, Ballerina, has just released its first trailer and with it, our first look at a murderous ballet dancer played by Ana de Armas.
The John Wick franchise has become one of, if not the, most iconic action franchises to date, spanning four movies and a three-episode miniseries. And with a new miniseries centred on the High Table stewing in the background, and the fifth mainline John Wick film also in development, we have our first trailer for the next entry in the saga.
Ballerina, officially titled From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina, follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a ballet dancer/assassin who is taken in by the Ruska Roma (one of the twelve members of the High Table) when her parents were assassinated. She’s trained by The Director (Anjelica Huston) and soon she must enact her revenge against the people that took her parents’ lives.
The trailer for this new film just released, and you can watch it in full right here:
Alongside the trailer, an official synopsis was released:
“Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Ballerina follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.”
While this synopsis makes it explicitly clear how John Wick can have a role in the film, the trailer does not and may lead to some confusion among fans, where Wick was last seen presumed dead in John Wick Chapter 4.
Already introduced John Wick characters that are set to return in the upcoming film are Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, Ian McShane’s Winston Scott, Lance Reddick’s Charon, and Anjelica Huston’s The Director. Joining them alongside Ana de Armas are Gabriel Byrne (Hereditary), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), and Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace).
Ballerina, formally known as From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman. It is produced by Chad Stahelski, who also directed reshoots for the film. The movie is aiming for a June 6, 2025 release.
