What is Among Us?

Among Us is a social deduction game where players are split between two roles, Crewmates and Imposters. Crewmates are given a number of tasks that they must complete to win the game, whereas imposters have the object of killing every crewmate without being found out by the crewmates. The game was released on June 15th, 2018, and a PC release was released shortly after, on November 16th, 2018.

During the 2020 pandemic, the game gained massive popularity as YouTubers and live streamers discovered it and shared it with their audience. Today, Among Us has found itself on every gaming platform and is the recipient of many awards ranging from the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Video Game (2021), Golden Joysticks Breakthrough Award (2020), and App Store Award for Trend of the Year: Connection (2021).

This popularity also resulted in collaborations between the game and popular franchises such as Knives Out, Scream, and Hololive.

Innersloth has been periodically announcing the cast for the Among Us series, generating hype amongst the player base. On March 15th, 2024, we were introduced to our starting cast, including Randall Park, Ashley Johnson, Yvette Nicole Brown and Elijah Wood. Then it was followed by an announcement on March 27th, 2024, which added Dan Stevens, Liv Hewson and Kimiko Glenn. Finally, on April 4th, 2024, the final cast members were announced: Patton Oswalt, Debra Wilson, Phil LaMarr and Wayne Knight.

Additionally, Deadline provided a brief description of each character, highlighting their role, characteristics, tasks, and a fun fact—read the full descriptions below:

Randall Park, 50, is best known for his roles in Fresh Off the Boat and The Office. He will voice Red, the Captain of The Skeld. Red is a people-pleaser and blowhard who is tasked with being the leader of the crewmates or maybe even their killer? While being confident he managed to fail… upwards!

Ashley Johnson, 40, is best known for her roles in Teen Titans and The Last of Us. She will voice Purple, the Chief of Security on the Skeld. Purple is very big on safety, always suspicious and sarcastic coupled with trust issues. I’m positive that she’d be the first to call meetings to accuse any and everyone. Her task is simple, be a wet blanket.

Yvette Nicole Brown, 52, is best known for her roles in Community and A Black Lady Sketch Show. She will voice Orange who manages Human Resources. She’s a spineless corporate shill who aims to eliminate redundancy, redundantly and has no problem firing you over email no matter how low that is.

Elijah Wood, 43, is best known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Over the Garden Wall. He voices the unpaid intern, Green, who’s simply happy to be in space and do whatever he’s told. He’s a simple guy who doesn’t need to be paid in essential resources like beans and stars, pizza is all he needs.

Dan Stevens, 41, is best known for his roles in Solar Opposites and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. He voices the knowledgeable, handsome, charming, did I forget to say handsome? Doctor who handles the physical and emotional care of the crewmates. His skills don’t stop there either, he also has a doctorate in poetry.

Liv Hewson, 28, is best known for their roles in Santa Clarita Diet and Yellowjackets. They voice Black, the ship’s Geologist who’s no different from what they study being stoic, coarse and simply put rock-like. They supervise the ore shipments on the Skeld and prefer rocks to people, are we sure they aren’t actually a rock?

Kimiko Glenn, 34, is best known for her roles in Orange Is the New Black and Across The Spider-Verse. She voices Cyan, the Gemologist who believes in the healing property of crystals. She has to make sure that everyone passes the vibe check, unfortunately, the vibes are bad.

Patton Oswalt, 55, is best known for his roles in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Sandman. He voices White, the Contest Winner whose motto is “No Trauma, No Drama”. He doesn’t have any tasks on the ship because someone else will get to it and believes that being rich can be a personality trait.

Debra Wilson, 61, is best known for her roles in The Summerland Project and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. She voices Yellow, the ship’s first cook who is described as Indignant, Opinionated and a Prankster. She’s tasked with making pizza (Do you remember what Green likes?) and is best friends with her cooking partner, Brown.

Phil Lamarr, 57, is best known for his roles in Spider-Man 2 and Invincible. He voices Brown, the ship’s second cook who is described as Chill, Supportive and Accountable. He’s also tasked with making pizza and is best friends with fellow cook, Yellow.

Wayne Knight, 68, is best known for his roles in Jurassic Park and Infinity Train. He voices Lime, a Doomsday Prepper and Conspiracy Theorist who is tasked with fixing things for the most part… and also very afraid of intimacy.

This brings the cast to a total of 11 members which felt strange to me considering there are currently 18 color options available… The cast is missing Pink, Maroon, Rose, Banana, Gray, Tan and Coral at the moment which leads me to believe they will appear in the series as cameo characters or will be saved for an eventual season 2.
