‘Severance’ Breakout Tramell Tillman Cast in ‘Mission: Impossible 8’

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Tramell Tillman has been cast in the next Mission: Impossible film. There are currently no details on who Tillman will be playing. The actor recently had a breakout performance in Apple’s Emmy winning series Severance — which is currently shooting its second season right now.

In Severance, Tillman plays Seth Milchick. Milchick is employed as the supervisor of the severed floor at Lumon Industries, the company that allows its employees to opt in for a procedure that separates their work and home personas. Milchick serves as one of the series’ antagonists which could possibly play a role in his casting in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Production on Mission: Impossible 8 (which is no longer subtitled Dead Reckoning Part Two) was halted due to last year’s dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, hence the delay of the film from its original release date of June 28, 2024. The film recently resumed production earlier this year in March.

Mission: Impossible 8 will continue the plot left off from the ending of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Dead Reckoning saw Ethan Hunt and his crew competing for control of the two cruciform keys which allowed the holder to control an AI dubbed “The Entity”. Also vying for the cruciform keys is Esai Morales’ antagonist Gabriel, a shadowy figure from Ethan Hunt’s past. Dead Reckoning left off open ended with Hunt in possession of both cruciform keys.

Who Else Is In Mission: Impossible 8?

Just as Dead Reckoning brought back Henry Czerny’s agent Eugene Kittridge from the first Mission: Impossible film, Mission: Impossible 8 will bring back Rolf Saxon who played CIA analyst William Donloe. Now if you don’t remember, Donloe was the analyst who was supposed to be watching over the highly classified data that Ethan Hunt steals whilst hanging from the ceiling in Mission: Impossible. The scene has now become one of the franchise’s most iconic stunts. News of Saxon returning to the franchise was announced by director Christopher McQuarrie on his now deleted Instagram page.

Additionally, Mission: Impossible 8 is set to welcome other newcomers to the franchise such as Katy O’Brian, Hannah Waddingham and Nick Offerman. No surprise here but Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Shea Whigham and Esai Morales will all be returning.
