‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ New Scenes Explained

This article will contain spoilers for the new scenes added in Avengers: Endgame Encore.

We are just shy of two months away now from the hotly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, but first Marvel has released a new version of the Infinity saga’s epic conclusion in the form of Avengers: Endgame Encore. Read our full article below for all the details about what was changed and added.

The first change and piece of additional content comes right at the very end of the original version of Endgame. We see Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who traveled back in time to return the infinity stones to their rightful place, dancing in his home with Peggy (Hayley Atwell). But where the screen would usually cut to the credits is replaced with a knocking at the couples’ door.

Steve hides around the corner (presumably because during this time period he is technically supposed to be buried under the ice and dead) while Peggy answers the door. We hear a familiar voice say “Hi” to which Peggy responds “Can I help you?” That’s when the person lets themselves into the home revealing that it is Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who is here to visit. Loki tells Peggy that he can “help you, both of you” as he looks in the direction of Steve’s hiding place, to which Steve reveals himself and the movie cuts to the normal credits.

The next piece of content added to the film is a mid credits sequence, this time featuring Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). This scene is shot like a found footage vlog with Banner journaling his scientific efforts to find ways to suppress the Hulk since his last incident in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The camera begins to glitch out as a glowing light is seen on one side of the room. 

Banner asks the unseen figure who they are, to which the person (who if you haven’t guessed by now is Victor Von Doom) tells Banner that he is “here to collect” him. A cacophony of magical sounds are played alongside Hulk screams as the camera recording this falls to the ground, revealing a burning green rune on the floor.

The final full scene included stars with a closeup of the TVA’s mascot, Miss Minutes, explaining that the TVA’s job is to keep the multiverse tidy and safe. We see Mobius (Owen Wilson) enter a monitoring room and he walks past a framed photo of Loki on the wall. He reaches a desk at the back of the room where OB (Ke Huy Quan) and Casey (Eugene Cordero) are watching the screens.

OB explains that a level one incursion is taking place between two universes, one of which is Earth-10005 aka the Fox X-Men universe. Casey points out that there are missiles on the monitor and OB elaborates that each Earth is trying to destroy the other before the two collide. Another monitor sets off an alarm indicating another incursion. And a third, and twenty, and a hundred, and three hundred, and three thousand. OB says what is obvious, the multiverse is collapsing.

One last little nugget is also tacked on to the very very end for viewers that really stick around. In the original cut of Endgame, as the very last credits and logos play, you can hear the iconic sound of Tony Stark hammering away at his Mark 1 suit from the very first Iron Man. In this new rerelease however, the sound has been recontextualized. Now images accompany the hammering, we see flashes of Doom’s mask being forged in an orange lit room with the final frame being a close up of the man himself.

Avengers: Endgame Encore is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and is now playing in theaters everywhere. Avengers: Doomsday is also directed by the pair and will be in theaters December 18th.
