‘Shrek 5’ Debuts New Teaser With Updated Animation, First Look At Story
Shrek is back with new life, as the Shrek 5 animation has been updated for a new trailer, which sees the Shrek family travel to Further Further Away
Dreamworks Animation prepares for a big 2027 with the first proper teaser for Shrek 5, following the first look at the film, over a year ago. Watch the first official teaser for Shrek 5 below:
Starring Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and John Lithgow, the first Shrek film was a box office hit, a critical darling (becoming the first ever winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature), and a cultural phenomenon. Now, nearly 26 years following its release, Shrek is returning for a fifth film.
The newly released trailer throws back to Shrek related gimmicks, such as the fairy tale book opening, a Smash Mouth’s “All Star” needle drop, and the titular ogre (Myers) being peeved with Donkey (Murphy). Also back in the franchise are its witty satirical elements, where in the trailer a snowman asks “want to date a snowman?” in reference to both prostitution and Disney’s Olaf.

The film will seemingly follow Shrek and wife Fiona (Diaz), as well as their two sons Fergus (Marcello Hernández) & Farkle (Skyler Gisondo) and close friend Donkey, as they journey to Further Further Away (of course, past Shrek 2‘s Far Far Away) to rescue daughter Felicia (Zendaya).
Shrek 5 will be released to theatres in Summer 2027, alongside expected hits such as Man of Tomorrow, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Star Wars: Starfighter, How To Train Your Dragon 2, the Ocean’s prequel and A Minecraft Movie Squared.
