George Miller Shopping ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’ & TV Show To Potential Buyers Before Selling IP
George Miller is reportedly shopping Mad Max: The Wasteland and an unspecified series to potential buyers, with plans to later sell the IP.
Australian visionary George Miller is reportedly shopping the next two instalments in his Mad Max Saga to potential buyers after previous distributor and production partner Warner Bros. Discovery passed on the package, according to a new report from Puck News’ Matthew Belloni.
Miller reportedly is shopping Mad Max: The Wasteland, the long-awaited sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, as well as a series set within the world of the Wasteland, to buyers, with plans to sell the IP once those two projects are completed.
Belloni mentioned potential buyers as including the likes of Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios. Given the historical significance of the franchise, as well as its status as a cult classic series, it will likely land with a studio sooner rather than later.

It is unknown whether George Miller will be open to returning as a creative in the franchise after selling the IP, having authored the previous five instalments. Perhaps other scale-driven directors such as Peter Jackson will be considered as future directors, or even ones known for kinetic filmmaking like Danny Boyle.
It was previously reported that Mad Max: The Wasteland was being developed as a series for HBO Max, though that report seems to have mixed up the film and series.
Most recently, the Mad Max franchise released a prequel following Anya Taylor Joy’s Furiosa, where we saw the origins of her character before Charlize Theron’s portrayal in Mad Max: Fury Road. That film only featured the titular Max Rockastansky as a cameo, though Tom Hardy is expected to return if The Wasteland goes into production.

George Miller is best known for Mad Max, Happy Feet, The Twilight Zone Movie, and 3000 Years Of Longing.
More to come.
