‘John Wick 5’ Officially In Development At Lionsgate
Keanu Reeves will return as The Baba Yaga in the next entry into the ‘John Wick’ franchise.
During the Lionsgate panel at Cinemacon, studio chairman Adam Fogelson announced that the next entry into the John Wick series, John Wick 5, will be moving forward. Alongside the announcement, it was confirmed that both Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski will return for the fifth outing.
Plot details are unknown at this time, however the previous main installment, John Wick 4, ended with (spoilers for the fourth film) the apparent death of John WIck. It has been long theorized by fans that the iconic assassin faked his death after receiving multiple gunshot wounds from Donnie Yen’s character, Caine, and now more than ever that seems to be the case. Many fans have also speculated that a potential fifth film could entail John fighting his way out of Hell in a Doom-esque style, or more the more realistic fans suggest we could see the title hero fight while keeping his cover low after getting freed from the assassin’s world once more.

The character will make his next appearance, however, in the upcoming Ana De Armas-led Ballerina film, which is set to hit theaters on June 6th. That will serve as an in-between-quel though, bridging the gap between both John Wick 3 and John Wick 4, so don’t expect any answers on how the character survived.
It is no surprise that Lionsgate is moving forward with this fifth entry as they have been having a rocky last couple of years due to critical and financial failures such as The Crow and Megalopolis. Overall, the John Wick franchise has grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, proving to be one of the studio’s strongest assets.

John Wick 5 will be directed by Chad Stahelski and will star Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves, Chad Stahelski, Erica Lee, and Basil Iwanyk will serve as producers. The film has no release date currently.
