‘Wife & Dog’ Trailer Brings A More Vengeful Cumberbatch
Benedict Cumberbatch plays a man set on revenge in Guy Ritchie’s Wife & Dog trailer. Watch it here.
In a huge year for Guy Ritchie, another one of his films has received its first trailer and release date, this one releasing early 2027. Watch the Wife & Dog trailer.
The trailer features narration featuring Anthony Hopkins’ character talking about digging someone, implied to be Benedict Cumberbatch’s character, into a hole that he can’t dig out of. He then says the only way out is down, into hell where Hopkin’s character presides. It’s certainly a strong visual, and one ripe for a revenge thriller such as Old Boy, The Crow, or Gladiator. The relentless greed of the Fairbank family and their associates fuels betrayal and murder in the battle for succession.
The film is the first collaboration between Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Hopkins, Cosmo Jarvis, and James Norton, and marks a reunion between Ritchie and both Paddy Considine and Rosamund Pike. The trailer marks the latest in a long line for the director this year with Ritchie directing Young Sherlock Season 1 (with a second season in production), In The Grey (also with Rosamund Pike), The Gentlemen Season 2 (with a third season confirmed), and MobLand Season 2, which began airing today.

Wife & Dog is distributed by Black Bear and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Hopkins, Rosamund Pike, Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton, Paddy Considine, and Pip Torrens. The film releases in theatres in February 2027.
