The Sandman is returning for its second and final season—here is everything you need to know about The Sandman Season 2 Volume 2, including the runtimes of each episode.
The Sandman is a Netflix TV series based on the 1989 comic of the same name. The comic was created and written by Neil Gaiman, who is also credited as the creator of the series along with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg. The latter of whom serves as the showrunner.
Volume 1 was released on July 3rd with six episodes. The second volume drops today on July 24th, 2025, with 5 episodes. There is also a special that is set to release on July 31st, which will wrap up the series.

After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds.

‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Volume 2 Total Runtime
The total runtime of The Sandman Season 2 Volume 2 is 236 minutes which is 3 hours and 56 minutes. Do keep in mind Volume 2 has one less episode than Volume 1, but Volume 1 had a total of 317 minutes which is just over 5 hours.
The longest episode of the volume is episode 11, “A Tale of Graceful Ends,” at 68 minutes. This clocks in as the longest episode of the series yet. The previous high was season 2, episode 5 “The Song of Orpheus” at 65 minutes.
The shortest episode of the volume is episode 10, “Long Live the King,” at 43 minutes. This is now the second-shortest episode of the series. The shortest being season 1, episode 3, “Imperfect Hosts,” at 37 minutes.

Season 1 had 11 episodes, including the special, while Season 2 has 11 without the special. Considering that, season 2 is not much longer than season 1.

Season 2 Volume 1 was longer on average than Season 1 but Season 2 Volume 2 is shorter on average. When you don’t consider the specials, Season 2 is only two minutes longer so there isn’t a massive difference. The total runtime does differ because of the episode count so Sandman Season 2 is considerably longer in total but is similar on average runtime.
When Does ‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Volume 2 Release
The Sandman Season 2 will release in three batches—Volume 1, Volume 2, and a Special. Volume 1 has already been released. Volume 2 is releasing today, and the Special, which will be the finale of the show, releases next week.
