Total Runtimes

  • Season 1: 544 Minutes (9 Hours and 4 Minutes)
  • Season 1 (without special): 480 Minutes (8 Hours)
  • Season 2 Volume 1: 317 Minutes (6 Hours and 17 Minutes)

Do keep in mind that season 1 had 11 episodes, and volume 1 only has 6 so it’s not a shorter season by any means. Season 1 without the special is exactly 8 hours, so it’s very likely that season 2, when it’s all said and done, will run longer.

Average Runtimes

  • Season 1: 49.45 Minutes
  • Season 1 (without special): 48 Minutes
  • Season 2 Volume 1: 52.83

As you can see, the second season’s average episode length is higher than the first by over 3 minutes and over 4 if you don’t count the special. It seems that The Sandman has beefed up both its episode count and length for its second and final season.
