The Bear Season 4 is set to start filming soon. They’re in the search for extras to fill various different roles and some of them are hinting at some very interesting storylines.

The Bear Season 4 Gearing Up For Filming; Casting Extras

The Bear Season 4 is set to return for another season in Summer 2024, likely releasing in June again. The show usually starts filming sometime in February, and it sounds like it will do so again this year. Read on for news about The Bear season 4 casting.

The show is casting multiple sets of extras to fill in background characters. They’re also looking for stand-in roles.

The Bear films in Chicago, Illinois, so all the roles are set there. Here are all of the casting opportunities and what they might mean for the show:

Kitchen Staff

In the casting call, extras are required for a lot of different roles in the kitchen.

Join the production team of a hit TV series as we prepare for another exciting season! We are searching for kitchen staff roles, including dishwasher, prep expediter, line cook, pastry chef, sous chef, and head chef. This is your opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise on set and be part of a renowned project.

This may potentially hint at the decision Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) has to make after the events of The Bear Season 3. There’s a real chance that this is all for a new restaurant. One run by Chef Shapiro (Adam Shapiro), and Sydney.

It doesn’t make enough sense for extras to be cast at The Bear (the restaurant), considering we have all those roles already.

It could always be some new restaurant showcased, but there’s a real chance that it’s Sydney’s new venture away from The Bear.

Restaurant Patrons For The Bear (and Another Restaurant?)

The Bear is also looking to cast extras for restaurant scenes.

We are looking for individuals to portray restaurant patrons in an exciting hit TV series. If you can bring upscale or casual dining vibes to life, this is your chance to showcase your style and be part of a popular production!

This sounds like they are casting for different restaurants potentially? Upscale hints at fine dining, sort of what The Bear has. On the other hand, casual dining could be for another restaurant.

Must be able to present an upscale or casual dining appearance as per scene requirements.

Could this be Sydney’s new restaurant? Perhaps one very different from the fine dining experience. Could making it her own be something that drastic?

Infant Playmates

The show will be casting one-to-six month-old babies.

We are seeking infant playmates to join the cast of a hit TV series. This is a unique opportunity for babies to appear on screen in an exciting production. If you have an infant between 1 to 6 months old, this is your chance to have them featured in a high-profile show!

This is almost certainly for scenes involving Sugar Berzatto (Abby Elliott) and her daughter. It would line up perfectly for her post-season 3 arc.

The Bear Actor Stand-Ins

Stand-Ins for the cast of the show for lighting, camera set-up and rehearsal purposes are being cast.

  • Must closely match the height, weight, and complexion of the specified actors:
    • Caucasian male: 5’11”, 175 lbs.
    • African American male: 5’9″, 165 lbs, darker complexion.
    • Puerto Rican female: 5’4″, 120 lbs, lighter complexion.

Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas) fits the Puerto Rican female 5’4” description, but the other two don’t quite match anyone in particular.

The Caucasian male casting could fit Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), but the actor is listed as 6’1”, a bit taller than the casting calls for.

It does, however, fit his former Punisher co-star, Jon Bernthal. Could Jon be back to film another scene with Tina?

Lionel Boyce (Marcus) is listed as 6’3″ and Edwin Lee Gibson (Ebra) at 6’2”, which would be too tall for the description of the African American male.

Corey Hendrix (Sweeps) also feels too tall to fit a 5’9” stand-in. This could always just be a completely new character.

When Will The Bear Season 4 Film?

Here is when every season prior started and ended production:

Season 1

Feb 14, 2022 – Mar 31, 2022

Season 2

Feb 21, 2023 – Apr 28, 2023

Season 3

Feb 26, 2024 – May 21, 2024

Do keep in mind that the reason why Season 3 had such a long production was because a chunk of Season 4 was also filmed. Season 4 production dates could end up being very short as a result.

There’s always a chance that it is either a longer season or that a part of Season 5 could also be filmed if that’s a possibility. Check out our theory if you’re curious to hear more.

One thing is clear: filming for season 4 will start soon, considering the casting of extras. How soon is the question? A late February or early March date sounds realistic based on the timeline.
