New Details Revealed for ‘The Black Phone 2’ (Exclusive)
We can exclusively reveal some brand new plot points and details for one of the most anticipated sequels of the year, The Black Phone 2.
Set four years after the events of the first film, The Black Phone 2 follows Finney (Mason Thames) still trying to rebuild his life after surviving his terrifying encounter with The Grabber (Ethan Hawke). Meanwhile, his younger sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) begins having unsettling dreams, including receiving calls from the eerie black phone and experiencing visions of three boys being stalked at a remote winter camp known as Alpine Lake.
Releasing in October, the film is aiming to scare everyone this spooky season including paying homages to some past franchises, whilst paving the way for its own legacy.
We can exclusively reveal that dreams play a huge part in this movie, in a similar way to the popular Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, with dreams and reality beginning to blend, and The Grabber acting in a Freddy Krueger-type role where he will be hidden to some and seen by others. Dreams are also pivotal to the plot, with the movie hinging on the ability to use the dreamscape to find things in the real world.
Gwen’s dream shows us the past, and in order for Finney to access them too and enter her dreams, he must first find the bodies of three young men who were killed in Alpine Lake by The Grabber in the past. Like the first instalment, a phone (seen in the trailer), will help our young leads with their quest.

The movie continually flips between past and present, utilising the non-linear storytelling to explore the past in Gwen’s dreams before approaching the locations in the present and using the knowledge attained in dreams to help them find The Grabber and get back in communication with him again.
Playing a big part in the film is Anna Lore, who will be playing the mother of Finney and Gwen. She passed away during their childhood under mysterious circumstances and is now looking to help her children in the only way she can.

The Black Phone 2 is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Anna Lore and Ethan Hawke. Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson, and C. Robert Cargill are producing.
