Mason Thames, Chris Pine, Lee Pace & More Join ‘Dynamic Duo’ Elseworlds Film

A new report suggests that Mason Thames, Chris Pine, Lee Pace, and more, will be the next actors to join DC Studios’ slate with Dynamic Duo just finishing principal casting negotiations.

TheInSneider reports that Mason Thames has been cast as Dick Grayson in Swaybox Studios’ puppet-animated Dynamic Duo film. Sneider also reports that Logan Kim will play Jason Todd, while Lee Pace will be playing the leader of the Red Hood gang. He further specified that Chris Pine is in talks to play Batman, with Steve Buscemi in talks to play another member of the Red Hood gang. Marsai Martin will play Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, in the film.

Whilst Sneider frames this news as an exclusive, Mason Thames, Lee Pace, and Chris Pine were earlier leaked to be in the film by a Redditor. User u/BatMatt2300 revealed, in a now deleted comment, that Chris Pine would star in the Batman voice role, though has no further details than that.

Dynamic Duo is the second Elseworlds film to be produced by DC Studios following The Batman Part II and will follow Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as they begin to rift, with Grayson becoming Nightwing and Todd becoming the anti-hero Red Hood.

Chris Pine would join the number of DC Studios cast members who were considered for one role but ultimately picked for another, as he was previously considered for Hal Jordan in HBO’s Lanterns. Nicholas Hoult auditioned for Superman but was cast as Lex Luthor, and Sydney Chandler auditioned for Maxima but will voice Nosferata in Creature Commandos Season 2.

Dynamic Duo is due out in 2028. The film is directed by Arthur Mintz and produced by Matt Reeves, with James Gunn and Peter Safran executive producing.
