‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 5: New Team-Ups, Removals & Changes

Season 5 of Marvel Rivals adds Gambit to the roster, the 45th hero who happens to be a Strategist. The arrival of a new hero and, by extension, a new season means many changes to the hero team-up system, which Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong discussed in the Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Volume 11. In addition to talking about the changes to team-up,s he also teased that older team-ups will return in “new ways”. Toda,y we’ll discuss what’s new with hero team-ups in season 5.

New Team Ups In ‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 5

This season adds three new team-ups to the game with Gambit, Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight as the team-up anchors. 

Starting things off, Gambit + Magneto’s team-up is called “Explosive Entanglement”. Magneto’s greatsword will be infused with Kinetic Energy which he can launch at enemies. These explode, dealing initial damage followed by a delayed second hit through “unstable kinetic energy”.

Cloak & Dagger + Hawkeye’s team-up, “Sword Of Duality” enhances Hawkeye’s Crescent Slash with light and dark energy allowing him to knock back enemies with a light and dark energy wave that passes through allies and enemies. The light energy heals and buffs allies while the dark energy damages and applies anti-heal to enemies,

Moon Knight + Blade’s team-up, “Blade Of Khonshu” allows blade to dash towards enemies, unleashing several quick slashes with his Blade of Dracula that launches moon blades which bounce between enemies 

Which Team Ups Are Being Changed / Removed?

Two team-ups will be removed this season, they are Cloak & Dagger + Moon Knight / Blade’s “Lunar Force” as well as Punisher + Black Widow’s “Operation: Microchip”.

There are three team-ups that will be changed this season, Magneto is removed from Emma Frost’s “Mental Projection” and Hawkeye is removed from Luna Snow’s “Chilling Assault”. Meanwhile, Black Widow joins Jean Grey’s “Primal Flame”, her bullets are now enhanced by the Phoenix Force which can heal allies and damage enemies in an area while this team-up is active, Black Widow is unable to perform Critical Hits. 

Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series X|S. Marvel Rivals Season 5 is available now until January 16th, 2026 at 2:00 AM PST / 5:00 AM EST.
