Filmmaker Matt Reeves confirms he’s speaking with Lauren LeFranc about a possible second season of DC Studios’ The Penguin. Find out what Matt Reeves said about The Penguin season 2 below.

In a new interview between Zoe Kravitz and Matt Reeves for Variety’s Directors on Directors series, the filmmakers spoke about their future projects. When prompted by the Blink Twice director questioning what his next move was, Reeves replied with the following:

“We’re finishing the [The Batman Part II] script. We’re going to be shooting next year.”

With this statement, Reeves confirms his previous sentiments alleging he’s nearly done with the script, alongside fellow scribe Mattson Tomlin, and is aiming to shoot the sequel next year.

“And more of these shows? Everyone’s freaking out over The Penguin.”

Kravitz responded with a statement that’s been on everyone’s minds since the finale of the explosive first season of The Penguin. What will be the next project to be announced for The Batman Epic Crime Saga?

“Yeah, we’re talking to Lauren [LeFranc] about doing another season. That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate. These characters don’t belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal.”

Reeves reveals that there is a possibility for a second season of The Penguin, turning the show into a series rather than a limited series. The show’s first season ended with Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell) on top of the Gotham criminal hierarchy after defeating Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) and reincarcerating Sofia Gigante (Cristin Milioti). Milioti’s character actually was teased to have an interaction with Zoe Kravitz’s saga character, Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, in her final scene of the show, in Arkham State Hospital.

As for the plot of this second season, that remains to be seen but it could theoretically tie into the Court of Owls, considering Oz’s newfound desire to get into the politics of Gotham City.

Matt Reeves is currently attached as writer and director of The Batman Part II, which will be the next project in The Batman Epic Crime Saga. Many details for the film are yet to be revealed but it is confirmed that Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The film will reportedly enter production starting May 2025, with cinematographer Greig Fraser returning to DP the film
