‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 2.5: Ultron & New Arakko Map
Ultron joins Marvel Rivals as the 39th member of the roster alongside a new convoy-based Arakko map.
We first learnt of Ultron’s arrival in Marvel Rivals during the Season 2 launch trailer, which depicted them invading Krakoa alongside numerous Ultron bots. The X-Men do their best to fend off the attack, and then we see a glimpse of a future Krakoa where Ultron reigns supreme. Following those events, when the victory/loss cutscenes appear on the Krakoa – Hellfire Gala map, we know whether the heroes stop Ultorn or not, he gains control of Cerebro and is reborn as an evolved state. That defeated Ultron is revived by Tony Stark (per a gallery card given out during the Cerebro Database event), which is how we gain our new member on the roster.
As we approach the launch of the mid-season content update, the character trailer for Ultron as well as a trailer for the new Arakko – Sister Island of Krakoa map, have been released, both will be added to the game on May 30th. You can view both trailers below.
Ultron Role And Abilities

Ultron will be a strategist in Marvel Rivals, featuring numerous abilities focused on healing allies alongside an ultimate focused on both damaging enemies and healing players similar to the likes of Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Landshark and Loki (in some cases). Marvel Rivals Ultron Cosmetics

During the launch of Marvel Rivals Season 2.5, Ultron will receive two skins. One is a recolor called “Mechanical Phantom,” which changes Ultron’s color scheme to Gray with Green highlights. This skin can be unlocked in Ultron’s cosmetics tab for 600 Units.
There is also the “X-Tron” skin. X-Tron was first introduced in the Krakoa – Hellfire Gala where upon his defeat, Ultron fuses with Cerebro to become something stronger. This skin will be available in the item shop at the launch of Season 2.5, the bundle, which costs 1600 Units, includes the Costume, MVP Animation, Emote, Nameplate, and Spray.
Finally, there is a “Golden Ultron” skin, which will be rewarded at the beginning of Season 3 for players who hit the Gold III rank or higher in Competitive.
Groot will also receive a skin called “Yggroot.” This skin will be available in the item shop at the launch of Season 2.5. The bundle, which costs 2200 Units, includes the Costume, MVP Animation, Emote, Nameplate and Spray.
Following the recent skin releases, we can assume that “X-tron” and “Yggroot” will be featured in a bundle together for a discounted price of 2800 Units.
New Map: Arakko – Sister Island Of Krakoa

The new map is Arakko – Sister Island Of Krakoa, a version which has been corrupted by the Ultron virus, a major plot point in the lore of this mid-season update. It is convoy-based, meaning that the attackers must first capture the payload, followed by delivering it to the end of the map. If the attackers are successful, then Yggroot is able to heal Arakko of the Ultron Virus and return it to its former glory, but if the defenders are successful, then Doom 2099 destroys Yggroot and then seemingly erases X-Tron and Krakoa from reality.

Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase and is available for free on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Season 2.5 begins on May 30th, 2025.
