We can exclusively reveal that Joker: Folie à Deux will be released 4 days early in IMAX theatres domestically before its theatrical release on October 4th.
In 2019 Joker was the first R-rated film to gross $1 billion at the global box office and earned 11 Academy nominations including a Best Actor Oscar for Joaquin Phoenix. Both a commercial and critical hit, it’s no surprise that a sequel would eventually be in development.
Joker: Folie à Deux adds Lady Gaga to the cast as Harley Quinn — Joker’s love interest from the comics. The film’s subtitle alludes to the relationship between Joker and Harley as “folie à deux” translates to “madness for two”.
The film’s official synopsis reads:
Joker: Folie à Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.
