A new sizzle reel advertising the rest of Max’s 2024 season and its upcoming 2025 season was released on Sunday. In the reel, new looks at The Penguin and Harley Quinn’s fifth season were shown. Also shown was Creature Commandos, but little to no new footage was included.

The reel also included looks at the upcoming Welcome To Derry series from The Brave and the Bold director Andy Muschietti, looks at The Last of Us Season 2, Game of Thrones’ A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and more. You can watch all of that, plus more, below.

‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Finishes Filming

Following a long and unusually volatile filming period, The Sandman’s second season has finally finished filming.

The series originally began filming on June 23, 2023, before suspending in July 2023 as a product of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming would then resume in November 2023 before now finally ending in August 2024.

The Sandman stars Tom Sturridge, Jenna Coleman, Gwendoline Christie, Boyd Holbrook and Kirby. It is currently in development at Netflix. Read our full article on the news here.

‘Deadman’ Finally Getting A Project?

Nexus Point News reports that Deadman will be receiving his own animated project. The project will be a series and is currently in early development at DC Studios. It has not been greenlit or found writing staff.

James Gunn has previously posted Deadman to his Instagram out of context, leading many fans to theorize if he would adapt the character. Deadman also has previously interacted with Swamp Thing in the comics, raising the possibility whether the character may debut in James Mangold’s upcoming live-action adaptation.

‘The Batman’ Re-Releasing In Theatres To Promote ‘The Penguin’

Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman will be rereleased in theatres starting August 28th to promote the HBO original miniseries The Penguin. It will be rereleased in Dolby Cinemas at AMC Theatres in the US with other showings in the United Kingdom.

All showings of the movie will also feature a sneak peek preview at The Penguin, which is due out on September 19 on both HBO and Max.

The Penguin stars Colin Farrell, reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot from The Batman as he prepares to take over the Gotham underworld and become the city’s kingpin Penguin. The show takes place a week after the film, so hopefully this rerelease allows for a real-world transition between the big screen and its smaller counterpart.

James Gunn loves to tease his various DC Studios projects on the app Threads, but with his attention allocated to production on Creature Commandos, Superman and Peacemaker S2, updates are few. But this week, we have two new pieces of news.

The first is a reply to a comment asked by the fan account Home of DCU. He asks “Hey James! Is DC Studios going to be at NYCC this October?”, to which Gunn replies with a thinking emoji, implying that the studio may indeed be at New York Comic Con.

The second query was asked by user william_ryan36790, who questioned the current completion status of Creature Commandos. Gunn replied, “[The] first two episodes are locked and loaded, the rest are in various different stages.”
