Action director David Leitch has reportedly entered talks to direct the latest film in the Ocean’s saga, Ocean’s Fourteen.

The Ocean’s franchise has become one of the most definitive and lucrative franchises for several action heroes like George Clooney (who plays the titular Danny Ocean), Brad Pitt (Rusty Ryan), Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, amongst others. And now David Leitch is in talks to direct Ocean’s Fourteen.

The film franchise has a plot that is so iconic that you would be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t know it, but for those uninitiated the films find Danny Ocean (Clooney) recruiting a team of eleven professional and amateur con men and thieves to perform a variety of heists. All three films have followed the same type of plot, and have even spawned a successful spin-off in the form of Ocean’s Eight, a story that followed Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), Danny’s sister.

The last mainline entry, Ocean’s Thirteen, released way back in 2007, leaving audiences with eighteen years without an entry. Now, following reports of development on Ocean’s Fourteen back in September, pre-production is furthering with action movie darling David Leitch reportedly entering talks for the film. Previously, All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave director Edward Berger had been courted by Clooney and Pitt to direct the fourquel, but seemingly talks have fallen through as Jeff Sneider, Editor in Chief of TheInSneider.com, reports David Leitch is now in talks.

David Leitch is a former stunt man known for his action-heavy films such as the original John Wick (which he co-directed without credit), Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Bullet Train (where he directed Pitt) and The Fall Guy. He has actually played a role in Ocean’s Eleven, being uncredited as a security guard, marking a full circle moment for the director.

That’s not the only Ocean’s project in development currently however, with Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie reportedly attached to play Danny’s parents in an Ocean’s Eleven prequel. That movie is set to be directed by Jay Roach, but has been sitting dormant for some time. When asked about that prequel, George Clooney stated “Margot Robbie’s my mother? I’ve always thought that. And Ryan Gosling is my father, and when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.”

Ocean’s Eleven was directed by Steven Soderbergh, and starred George Clooney, Matt Damon, Andy García, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Don Cheadle, Elliott Gould, Eddie Jemison, and Bernie Mac.
