Snoop Dogg Biopic Working Title and Filming Locations Revealed
Universal Pictures is currently set to release a Snoop Dogg biopic, here is the latest.
A biopic on the life of Snoop Dogg is set to hit theaters next summer on August 6th. More news is slowly coming out about the film, here is the latest.
Snoop Dogg is a household name, for more reasons than one these days but his claim to fame was his rap persona. Snoop was in and around the greatest tales told about rap history from Tupac to Biggie to Suge Knight to Dr. Dre to many more. There’s been a Tupac biopic, a Biggie biopic, and a NWA biopic (which stars LaKeith Stanfield as Snoop in a brief role), it makes sense that a story on his life would be something Hollywood tackles next in the rap game.
The upcoming biopic is written and directed by Craig Brewer, best known for Song Song Blue and Dolemite Is My Name. It stars Jonathan Daviss as Snoop Dogg. Daviss is best known for playing Pope on Outer Banks. Black Panther scribe Joe Robert Cole wrote the initial script for the film that Brewer revized. Initially the film was set to be directed by Allen Hughes before he dropped out. Somewhat unique is the fact that Snoop will have a hand in producing the film so he likely has all the authority on what is and isn’t in the film.
While details on the film are scarce, there is some information that has come out that might shed some light on what the film will be about specifically. The film is currently set to film very soon in Los Angeles and Long Beach, California. They are currently casting for African-American men ages 17-30 around the areas. It’s also been revealed the current working title of the Snoop Dogg biopic is “213”.
213 is a reference to Snoop Dogg’s rap group of the same name which consisted of Snoop, his cousin Nate Dogg and Warren G. 213 was also the area code for the Long Beach area at the time, which all three of them are from.
