Spider-Man: Brand New Day First Reactions Hail the Film as Tom Holland’s Best Spider-Man Movie and One of the MCU’s Best

Here are the initial reactions to the fourth installment in Tom Holland’s Spidey franchise, Spider-Man Brand New Day

The premiere for the film is currently being held in El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The movie is set to release worldwide on July 31st and the first social media reactions are now out. The review embargo will reportedly lift in 8 hours at 6 PM PST.

Spider-Man Brand New Day represents a new directional change for the franchise with Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm. After the events of No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker no longer exists to the public and thus he has no relationships with anyone. As Tom Holland puts it, “I think you really meet Peter Parker at the beginning of the darkest chapter of his life”.

Brand New Day follows a very well received string of Spider-Man films that were very well received by both critics and fans. The rotten tomatoes and metacritic scores for all 3 films are near identical.

Spider-Man: Far From Home – 91%
Spider-Man: No Way Home – 93%

For reference, there are only 12 MCU movies with 90+ on RT (3 of which are from the Home trilogy). The last MCU movie to reach this mark was Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the one before that was Shang Chi, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton who is directing Brand New Day.

Spider-Man Brand New Day is being called a very personal, emotional film that is the best of the Tom Holland Spider-Man films and the best since Spider-Man 2. Some are even calling it the best. However, a couple of reactions say the movie has too much going on which hurts the film even if they liked it.
